Error: No Package Matching glibc.i686
this is fc6

hi
I am running bind9 and wondering why its also listening on ..

am i doing something wrong or is there something wrong with this package

53 :::* LISTEN
how to disable it?

disable ipv6 listen on the config file

hmm PSUdaemon i tried with putting 'alias net-pf-10 off' in /etc/modeprob.conf and rebooted
but its still listening

no, in the named.conf file
there is an ipv6 listen line

PSUdaemon, nope i don't have any line in named.conf for ipv6
i thinks i should try with putting 'IPV6INIT=no' in interface config file

i'm no ipv6 expert but i think that is your loopback device it is loading on

HOW can I UPDATE firefox?????
I alwayus get this stupid error

relax

an error is only stupid if you ignore it

just calm down

on linux its normally updated via the package manager

i try to when asking this question around 1 o clock in the moring

so ?

got no damn sleep

just because its 1am doesn't mean you have to be a dick
then go to bed

my work thats whats so

not our fault yo've not slept

what is the problem exactly?

yum --enablerepo=development update firefox

fire fox will be updated via yum if there is a release candidate available

I have always done that and it works

great
so whats the problem

but now after a fresh install of 6 again IT doesn't work

how doesn't it work?

6 doesn't have a development repo

yes it does

ummmm yes it does

ok - bad choice of wording perhapso n my part
my
on

I've used this command before and it works

quit beating around the bush though

ok - so whats the problem

what exactly is wrong with firefox?

hold on I am trying to get the error
I did the same command just now so hold on
I am not able to upgrade it to 2.0

what is the error

which I need for my virtual schoo;
Hold on

I thought FC6 came with ff2 ?

yum is trying to upgrade it

(not got an FC6 box to check)

nope
1.5

I think I downloaded it and installed it that way

yeah I d/l and installed it but my plugins are not loaded into the downloaded version

what is the error through yum

core 6 wont be upgraded to ff2.

???

I am missing java, totem , divx and other files

he said he did it and it workedc
worked

do you have both 1.5 and 2 installed?

Virtual School
yup

fedora doesnt provide ff2 for core 6.

2 from mozilla site
Ok got it
heres the error

I don't doubt you but he said he's done it and it worked

Missing Dependency: python(abi) = 2.4 is needed by package libxml2-python

if you decide to bypass the packaging system, it's your damn own problem.

http://pastebin.com/m235aa377

downloading rpms doesn't neccesarily bypass the packaging system at all

hello

the mozilla foundation is providing rpms ?

noobest question ever..
but how does one check what version of fedora i am currently on ?

cat /etc/fedora-release

ta

meow!

I would love to install fc7
but It wo't let me

what do you mean?

damn...

You have to ask it really nicely.

F7 does come with FF2, btw.

ok I use smart package manager
I have a seperate channel pointing at a local folder

like my dvd seems not to pick it up

enabled development rep
repo that is

And me and my dad have the same dvd drive

search for firefox click install
your dvd is probably messed up

I've got a floppy image (iso file) on my harddrive for a driver bootdisk. Anything special or do I just cp it to fd?

did you verify it?

SAM_theman, Mate - a few simple things to look out for - 1.) Did you burn the ISO properly 2.) Have you cleaned your DVD drive lately 3.) Is the disk you burnt clean?

gholm why do you need a driver bootdisk to install?

This is my problem with FC7
http://apcmag.com/6415/first_look_at_fedora_core_7
yes
It booted up on my dad's computer

downloaded from a website.
not in any repositories

so i'm up to ~17 hours uptime with the 2.6.22.1-27.fc7 kernel and still no lockup. maybe the dynamic tick stuff has been fixed afterall (or maybe it's just an abnormally long uptime).

it's a 3ware raid card

and when I tried it on mine the live grub loader showed and I slected 1+ GB ram and the other one then I get a error

SAM_theman, That's the same drive that I have. I have NO problems with the ISO I burned FROM that drive.

gholm is that real hardware raid or psuedo hardware raid
I'm guessing the latter

I think because I upgraded the firmware on mine

no, its real hardware
raid

SAM_theman, And something else to consider is to just get the proper DVD ISO of F7 - instead of using the "live" one

yup
same thing

I have a so called raid controller intergrated with my motherboard which provided me with no end of trouble

the dvd spits ot when running the check

until I just used software raid

I downloaded both 64 and 32

promise?

SAM_theman, Mate - I've done the exact same thing - but I've used the actual DVD ISO - not the live version. Works perfectly here. Just installed it on a laptop this arvo

silicon image
sil3114

look the dvd works in vmware not on my actual hardrive

don't know that one. but we've had no end of trouble with promise "soft raid" crap

check this out
Is fc7 good?

SAM_theman, Mate - just for ONE second, listen - go and download the actual DVD ISO of F7 - NOT the live version, but the real deal installation DVD ISO - burn that ON the drive you're wanting to use - and you'll find you're all right

.....

SAM_theman, That's actually quite a silly question - it works quite nicely here - and for most other folks...

My internet sucks

this guys a moron

how can i send emails from a specified address? i cannot seem to find the relevant option in man mail
how can i send emails from a specified address? i cannot seem to find the relevant option in man mail

just drop it

1.5MBPS
and I get 150K
wtf...
even my dad's pissed

the mail command will send from your "real" name in the user
we don't care
something like mutt will allow to change the from/real names

ikonia, Shut up

so I need to configure my MTA?

SAM_theman, Mate - chill. I'm trying to talk to you and at least give you a hand.

I know
I am looking for a .iso site

not really, your MTA just does what its told, you need the client interfacing with that to be confurings
configured

and mail does not support that?

wait 64 or 32

use the torrents or mirros on fedoraproject.org

SAM_theman, Follow the link for the DVD ISO on the www.distrowatch.com site

I think mailx may

Yeah I know that site

mail is quite dumb

SAM_theman, Mate, use the 32-bit version - better overall performance

ah thanks

hello

ok

ahh ok

SAM_theman, Mate, I'm going for a smoko. Just relax, have a schooner, find the ISO and start downloading it - my ISP's connection ain't much better than yers.

:-d thx

I cant get bittorrent to work on fedora 7, i've tried loads of clients, opened the right ports on the firewall and tried with the firewall disabled, and bt works well in my other OS's; any ideas?

try forwarding the bittorrent ports on the router (if you have one)? Fedora doesn't do anything special that should prevent it from working normally

about 5 hours
doesn't 1.5 mbps mean 1.5MB every second

no

so downloading 3MB is like 2 sec's ??

jesus

MB and Mb are different

ikonia, hold your tounge

no

connection speeds are measured in Mbps (megabits per second) whereas you're thinking MB/s (megabytes per second)

the hell
so 1.5 is really 150K

there is a fairly big difference
trying to explain a bib

Look I am a graphic Desinger not an it tech guy

uh bip

*Designer

I've set the firewall already, but it dosn't seem to be the problem, its forwarding all ports, btw i had the same trouble in fedora core 6

anyone know what happened to the ati drivers on livna?

mmm.... Would Maya work on 7 right?

I *think* the difference is a factor of 8 (8 bits to a byte)

its it in the repo ?

huh?

alex[slx]: is it still in the repo or has it gone

well yum list | grep fglrx shows nothing
so I assume it's gone

how strange

or they've been renamed
but searching for ati doesn't show much either

mail a maintainer I guess

i cant find it
back to bit-torrent, does anyone use it fedora 7?

occasionally

I use torrent clients yes

i do

did it work straight up or did you have to do something?

alex[slx]: they have it for FC6, so either they left it out for some reason or maybe it doesn't build against F7's kernel (wouldn't be the first time fglrx failed to build against a newish kernel)

just the usual

oh ok

forward port and open a port in the firewall

does nvidia/ati have to break every certain number of kernel revisions?

if that's the case can I expect it to be available eventually?

alex[slx]: well you don't necessarily need to use livna (although it is nice)... if you download the fglrx binary installer from ATI/AMD and run it with `/fglrx-8.blah --listpkg` you will see it can build RPMs for various distros
alex[slx]: you can use it to build an RPM with `fglrx 8.blah --buildpkg pkgtype` ... then install it with `rpm -ivh rpm`. However I believe that it will overwrite a couple GL libraries from the mesa packages (unless they've fixed that)

is anyone using evolution for gmail (pop access)? Does it delete the messages off the server?

alex[slx]: if it fails to build or Fedora 7 isn't listed via --listpkg then perhaps that's why livna isn't packaging it

yes, it's actually part of the GPL

alex[slx]: I haven't used fglrx much, but that's the method I use to build it for RHEL at work... I'm under the impression that livna's RPMs are safer

mmm
and easier
that's a client issue
you just need to find the option that'll leave the mail on the server

alex[slx]: "leave main on server" is unchecked
alex[slx]: s/main/mail/

i have to ethernet adapters could that affect bittorrent, do i have to configure something?
2 adapters

there's your problem then

alex[slx]: but I want them deleted off the server
alex[slx]: and that is not happening

ohh

hi all

you _do_ want them deleted
sorry

can somebody help me with a setup of fedora on a system with a harddisk connected to a pci-sata controller?
F7 cannot find the disk
the card's chipset is from initio, if that helps

Does your BIOS see the HDD?

Sparks, the disk is shown after the initial boot screen. When the sata/raid info appear

not sure, I'd say that'd be a Gmail thing
can you try it with another account?

Hmmmm... Not sure. My new computer I built last week uses SATA drives (onboard controller) and I didn't have any problems loading F7.

alex[slx]: I don't have another pop acct to try

Sparks, in the 'initio sata raid bios setup' utility it is listed and is marked in 'passthrough' mode

Not sure. Hopefully someone else who is monitoring can help you out.

are the chipsets from initio supported?
Sparks, ok thanks
http://www.sunix.com.tw/it/en/Product_Detail.php?cate=2&class_a_id=34&sid=447
os support: ... secure linux web hosting 2.4x

if the CD that came with it has a driver for 2.4.x kernel it could be that it requires a special driver that isn't available for 2.6.x kernel

hollywoodb, i checked the cd and it contains only driver for windows.

not sure then... doesn't seem to be much information about that card

contact the manafactor

it looks like Sil3112a chipset which I *thought* was supported

grr at debian

hollywoodb, so it is not supported?
Southern_Gentlem, this is not an option as i need to setup this machine in the next hours. i need it

that card doesnt seem to be supported and the manafactor cant even sort alphabeticly on their support page
the manafactor shows no links to any newer drivers
DaHood, only thing i can tell you is go get a different card

damn
Southern_Gentlem, which chipset will work for sure?

DaHood, i use 3ware cards myself
all of them work

all hardware manufacturers suck! I should by nothing that is not supported by the linux kernel. this is what they deserve. daaamm
Southern_Gentlem, hollywoodb, thanks

exactly

but they listed that it is supported by linux 2.4, so i assumed that there is no problem! idiot manufacturers

realbytecomputer, adaptec and 3ware here i have seensome 3com stuff not work over the years

Southern_Gentlem, Yeah - over the YEARS - but mostly it gets fixed relatively quickly. I've always just stuck to a certain standard and have never had issues with any periph cards - SCSI or IDE controllers - whatever - as long as they were Adaptec or 3M - ditto with ethernet cards.

the expected behaviour would be to identify the pci-sata controller and list the connected HDD? I ask just in case i have misunderstood something. I have never used a controller before

DaHood, Firstly, remember that we're all users here. Not developers - not the one's responsible for creating the distro or steering it's path - secondly, it sounds like it's a bloody strange card - and if it were me, I'd be Googling like a maniac to try to find the resolution...

realbytecomputer, i am googling like a maniac. there must be a misunderstanding. i have not acused anyone from fedora community. just the manufturer and me for buying that card. that's all.

Y'all right mate. Cool beans. I'm sure SOMETHING will get resolved for ya. If ya doing the Google thing, try the "Groups" as well

https://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?viewmode=flat&order=ASC&topic_id=3080&forum=29&move=prev&topic_time=1139926114

hello all

DaHood, Well, if it works on CentOS it should work on Fedora/RHEL
DaHood, Oooooo....just read that. Not good mate.

actually, it does not work, because the idiots at sunix have changed the chipset without updating the websites. this is what those people talk about. and i will ask for a replacement

DaHood, AH - now you're talking mate. Better yet - get yer money back and buy something that you know is supported, eh? Easier that way - and don't have to worry about dealing with it in the future...

realbytecomputer, thanks folks.
bye all

Unresolveable requirement gecko-libs = 1.8.1.4 for yelp
is this a known issue?

guzu, It would help to explain what exactly you're doing when you get that error.

realbytecomputer, yum update chmsee

??

realbytecomputer, but if i try yum update yelp, works ok, updating chmsee too, for dependecies
let me try
unresolved deps again, with 'install'

guzu, Have you tried this through the "Add/Remove Software" GUI?

realbytecomputer, no, i avoid that gui at any cost
realbytecomputer, what good can that gui bring?

guzu, Just checking. BTW, I generally install apt.i386 ASAP on all my F7 installs...

realbytecomputer, sure, but i'm not that brave

apt has worked quite nicely on my F7's - and I've done quite a few installations in the past month. Never a worry. Install both apt and Synaptic and it's great. Also, I do install yum-extender - but that's a different story.
guzu, Ok - granted that you're not that brave - how's about just resolving the deps and getting that over and done with?

realbytecomputer, you're right. i'll fix this for now. thnnx for da help
urealbytecomputer, you're right. i'll fix this for now. thnnx for da help /u

btw, smolt server is unavailable?

guzu i am updateing fine and i dont have geck-libs installed at all
so have you installed something else i need to know about like firefox outside of yum etc
gecko-libs
rpm -q gecko-libs

Southern_Gentlem, no, but curiously enough, upgrading from fc6 to f7 left some old firefox things around ... (selinux is complaining sometimes)

how did you upgrade

Southern_Gentlem, gecko-libs is not installed
Southern_Gentlem, anaconda

with media or how

dvd

ok
doing a yum provides gecko-libs returns firefox

ok

yum update firefox

Southern_Gentlem, already done yum update yelp wich installed firefox, chmsee, etc

Southern_Gentlem, Ive been studying my wireshark logs and it appears my wifi adapter is being knocked off from here.

and still getting the same error

Southern_Gentlem, no was fixed, and reported above

yelp installs firefox or mozilla?

it was fixed

ops soory

firefox
Southern_Gentlem, np, thank you

Blinny, yelp i think is a dep for firefox

I guess I'm still in FC5/FC6 land.
FC5

Blinny, and you know fc5 is now DEAD
and fc6 will be EOL in december

Southern_Gentlem, but if you can, please tell me what about the hd-audio sound cards (snd_hda_intel): when system is really busy, sound stops, and on resume the volume is at max

Yeah yeah yeah
And it's not DEAD it's pronounced "D-E-D dead"

Southern_Gentlem, or maybe you know how the scsi_immed flag can be set

guzu mine halts when the system is really busy, but it doenst reset to max on me

Southern_Gentlem, it does not really plays at max except for maybe a second
the first

I think I'm going to alias 'yuck' to 'yum erase'

i've seen this on my new computer and also on my office computer

gnome or kde

gnome

not seeing it sorry

Southern_Gentlem, when k3b is closing disc maybe?

nope

Southern_Gentlem, ok, thanks again
i'll bugzilla

i have xmms-mp3 playing streaming audio and k3b finishes and plays the trupet

I haven't had any issues either, but hda-intel covers a pretty decent range of cards

guzu first thought is to see if there is a bios update for your motherboard
guzu amount of ram

fyi - if anyone wants a working Miro player (Democracy player) for F7, you can get it from here: http://jasonfarrell.com/fedora/7/i386/ (until it's properly packaged and in fedora's repos)

Southern_Gentlem, i'll check the bios updates, 2GiB

21% Done of the DVD

SAM_theman, why does it seem you're always downloading?

democracy player?

SAM_theman, thought you did that when F7 was released

Can i install fedora 7 from the live cd?

I'm on an 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) chipset, STAC92xx Analog alsa device

I just thought of somthing
I can change my dvd drive

Where can I change power management settings in FC6?

I have another dvd drive

hollywoodb, thnx

Power Managment
It's in system

Yes you can install from the Live CD

SAM_theman, it's not there :/

Pref.... More Prefs.. "Power....

nope

aMoRPHeouS, 6 or 7?

I am looking at it now

:/
isn't there a command line way to do it?

yes
gnome-power-manager
take that
GEEK!

nope

Sparks, for real

not there

ok
"yum install gnome-power-manager"

way ahead of you :P
I'm sure it was there when I first installed though :/

what U mean you tried that?

Yep... Boot off of the CD. When it comes up try the icon on the desktop.

ok we no choice but to...

no, I'm trying it

Sparks, thx
o ok
If that doesn't work we'll have to compile one
nah Spraky I'll wait till the dvd is done
I rather have the full thing
Sparky what you do?

it's in the repo, but yum is being slooooow -_-

Who Me?

yup
:-d

I do security!

aMoRPHeouS, well no need to compile
IRS or CSI or FBI ?

inded
*indeed

You'll get the whole thing as it takes the ISO and installs it. BUT you still have to go in and do the add/delete software after you do the install.

Southern_Gentlem, Opps I never said hi to you so... HI
add/delete what?

ummm software
Packages
etc.

I am going to do a fresh install
not an upgrade

It isn't an upgrade

was that a question?

You implied...

I can get Fedora Up and Running
ehh.. you misunderstood
I wanted to install F7 but my dvd drive won't let me
after I relized that I have another one

Ahhh

-When I broke the DVD
stupid me

Opps

Sparks, I am going to be buying a quad core
whats better Intel Or AMD ?
I a graphic desginer
*a = am

neither, both. world isn't black and white

That's cool...
I just bought an AMD dual-core... No complaints

I have a Dual Core 4400+ X2
I am on it now
I hope fedora runs good on 8GB of ram

8gb is a little overkill for most uses

Should work just fine...

Maya | Autodesk

Works good on my 4GB of RAM

Maya is a demanding application

how big a models are you working with?

well the motherboard I am looking at supports up to 8GB why not max it out one time

re

cars...
I kinda new so chill
Human heads

SAM_theman, got a link to your renders?

omg my chin is in pain from the razor
nien
no

no offense but I used to use 3d modeling apps on a celeron 300 with 256MB of ram

what program
blender...

I don't know if you are going to benefit from 8GB
3d studio max

ahhh

SAM_theman, http://raph.com is one of my favorite places to go for great 3d renders.

how is 3dmax anyway

it was pretty easy to learn
but this was years ago

thx

and all major programs have gone through several revisions

I usually go to www.cgtalk.com and other ones
ok so 4 GB
wow I could save like 300 Bucks
But u won't stop me from getting Dual 8800Ultra's

lol

can't get a quadro
2400 for the best one

I wish I had as much money to spend

and don't have DX10
my dad said go get 4 ofem
quad 8800

I think there is some difference between gaming cards and professional cards

I know
But I seen 8800 on maya
and I've seen a quadro
my friend used his brains

ummm do you know of a motherboard with 4 full speed pci express slots?

He loved gaming and animation, so he bought a Quad 8800 OC'd
Gigabyte
They had a Quad MotherBOard
brand new
Everything on it is quad
so 4 8800 = 1 Nvidia 5600 Quadro (2400.00)

SAM_theman, seems like you're focusing way too much on tools and hardware hoping it'll make you a better artist

No
I know what I am doing

not only that but he is making up stuff as he goes along

I am in a contest
I am in a 2 man team
heres the page

blender + old hardware is the tortoise that crosses the line first?

Guys getting error while trying to run yum -y update on fc6 hosts (20+) it giving error for ..
Public key for cups-libs-1.2.12-1.fc6.i386.rpm is not installed

yeah two cups packages we signed with the rawhide key

I wonders what happened never get into this problem before we keep all hosts updated

s/we/were

hmm look like i have to update our local repository which stll hold the it
EvilBob, update went smooth on f7 and its not using the local repo (we do not have local repo for f7 yet)
EvilBob, how to fix the problem? :-s
still getten .. ah np

did you get past it? How so?

scampbell, nope still getting same error

yeah, me too.

yeah two cups packages were signed with the rawhide key --- any idea about this?

It's exactly the sort of thing one would get from a malicious package too.
no idea, I could probably force the update but I'm not sure I want to.

wonders they "fedora folks" will fix it or its something to do with our end

I'm deselecting the cups update for now myself.
It's them I think.

kokoko1, exclude the package until it's updated, or import the rawhide key, or temporarily ignore the key

zcat, hmm what's the command line switch to exclude a package , coz i am in no mode to edit 30+ yum.conf

kokoko1, --exclude cups\*

zcat, thanks

capture in progress

can anyone confirm if redhat linux 8 can be directly upgraded to fedora 7?

Public key for cups-libs-1.2.12-1.fc6.i386.rpm is not installed
am i the only one getting that?

epkphoto, the short answer is NO
not very effectively

heh
the long answer is noooooooooo
jeez I crack myself up

can you upgrade a pinto to a lincoln?

loev-chan: nope, it's wrongly signed. I deselcted the update until they fix it.

lol Blinny

ahh okay cool

please help me. i have f7 with firefox 2.0.0.3 i'm trying to install flash player to it. i have downloaded http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/flash-plugin-9.0.48.0-release.i386.rpm and installed it but flash applications still don't work

yeah, I imagine so...but the upgrade notes of each fedora release always say, "If your system contains a Fedora or Red Hat fedora linux installation, a dialog appears asking whether you want to upgrade that installation..."

walkie, restart firefox

guzu, i did it but it still don't work

maybe so but epkphoto the truth is you need to make your home directory in a separate partition and do a fresh install each time, saving your home directory

i know the best web hosting bet would be to install fedora 7 fresh, but unfortunately the box I'm working with is a bit unknown to me

about:plugins

yeah...luckily the home directory and /var/www directories are on separate partitions

upgrading will make it a lot less known epkphoto

cool fixed that selinux error

so a clean install may be the way to go

loev-chan, how

and then deal with reconfiguring things

guzu, http://rafb.net/p/SVCWNR99.html

openoffice in fedora does not seem to use printers configured under spadmin

walkie, where is flash lugin? idon't see it

the project I'm dealing with is quite a mess...an old RH8 install running a Ruby (not on Rails) based wiki with its built-in WEBrick server

is there any step by step guide for installing fc from a dvd iso file from hdd

walkie search mauriat miranda in google and follow instructions

plz help

that we need to get running under Apache to accommodate other web sites

epkphoto, you need to examine your resources and whether or not installing f7 will be beneficial
f7 is a lot more os then rh8

i have the dvd fc7 iso file
how do i go
?

2h 54m left

sil3nt|warri0r, read the release notes

boot with linux askmethod

sil3nt|warri0r afaik, you need to burn it to a dvd...

i read the installation guide , but wont get much help
Trengo, no, i want to install without burning

sil3nt|warri0r i dont think it can be done

if you want to go with the hdd install method, you'll need to put the ISO on a hard drive inside the target computer that is formated as ext3 or another type linux can read, and then use the much smaller boot.iso file to burn a boot cd
you can use that boot cd to boot with linux askmethod
and choose a hdd install
and, you'll want to install to another hard drive than the one the ISO is on

but that still needs a burn

that it does

i burn the boot.iso file to cd

i believe you can do a PXE boot too

then boot from it
but when i chose the .iso file, it show " sendding the kill signal
or its just ending all processes

he can also create an ftp server hosting on another machine, etc

wol no
wolsni, no
hva eonly one mechine right now

sil3nt|warri0r you need to burn that cd
or

ah, ok
then try linux askmethod

get two floppies and install freebsd over the internet

i tried that too

sil3nt|warri0r, and?

but when i chose the .iso file, it show " sendding the kill signal
or its just ending all processes

how to know what fedora im running from command line?

sil3nt|warri0r, is there such thing as choose?

yes
from cd, hdd, ftp, http
i chose hdd

willofthewisp3, cat /etc/fedora-release

Thanks again

np
and then it asked the partition right?

yes

sil3nt|warri0r, ^

i press F2

and then the path, right?

yes
i chose the .iso file even
but then suddenly its start ending all processes
and shows "u can safely reboot ur system now ?

hi

hmm

is there a good page that tell xgl installation on fedora 7 ?

the file is in a ext3 partition

how's your path? right it here
oops
write
paste your path

/dev/sda5/fc7/file.iso

shouldn't be /fc7 ?

but its not a scsi hdd, its a ide hdd

or even /fc7/ ?

i dont realy get what xen is i know my xen kernels wont boot is it sometyhing i need running ?

i dont even wrote the path manually, i just chose the file
from the list

sil3nt|warri0r, that is not importnt name is probably ok, all hddrives are sd? now

k

xen is for virtualization, you don't need it if you don't know what it is

cool thanks

sil3nt|warri0r, i have no idea what's wrong there

i also tried burning the diskboot.img which is for usb devices
and then boot
but fails, it wont boot even

guzu, mauriat miranda offers to use exactly same repository which i used

walkie, you have to follow all instructions

grr

i dont even find good howto on this

guzu, yes i'm installed repo, make yum install flash-plugin it downloaded flash-plugin-9.0.48.0-release.i386.rpm result is the same
guzu, may be it because i'm x86_64 mashine?

walkie, rpm -q adobe-release
walkie, yes it is because you are running x86
adobe doesnt support x64
walkie, yes it is because you are running x64

Southern_Gentlem, is there any solution to see flash pages?

walkie yum install firefox-32

walkie, are you on x86_64?

install the 32 bit firefox and use it to look at flash pages

guzu, yes

walkie, sorry didn;t know that

Southern_Gentlem, thank you
guzu, thank you too

np

guzu that is the reason i ask for uname -r and uname -a all the time
assume= ass/u/me

Southern_Gentlem, good practice

guzu have you ever watched the tv series house

Southern_Gentlem, no, i don't see much tv
what's in it?

its about a Dr house who is fantastic at finding out what is wrong with people that noone else can figure out
patients always lie

like users

bingo
and so ask question that require them to run commands and give specific answers
howdy |DrJef|

hi jef

grrrrr
how will i install xgl on fedora 7?

thanks for you help yesterday !! i got gcc compiled just fine now !!!

are you trying to use xgl, compiz, beryl, potfor, or ?

but i turned the server off last night, and when i turned it on this morning all the routes were removed -- checked on it using route -n so i tried to add my route again and i think i messed it all up !

personally, I get my 3d compositor jollies from beryl, works great

i cant get out to the world ! i can get anywhere on the local net. so i tried a "route add 0.0.0.0 gw 192.168.0.1 eth0" (which is what i typically have to add on a new install, but this time its not working
any suggestions ?

generalhan, system-config-network

Do most fedora people prefer to use the java.sun rpm or the self extracting file and mess with opt?

that is all ok .. i am getting an IP just fine from the DHCP server ... and i can connect internally to any station, just not passed my gateway
how can i remove the routes i just added so that i can start over again

i installed beryl but i've ati graphic card and i need to install xgl.. they said this and i'm trying to find xgl for fedora
fedora 7..

generalhan, route del default

okay, hang on a sec, will find a url...

SIOCDELRT: No such process

the http://fedorasolved.org method has always worked well for me

http://fedorasolved.org/video-solutions/xgl-on-fedora-core?searchterm=xgl

this is odd ... i can do a nslookup on www.google.com just fine ... but when i try and ping it i get a Network is Unreachable

it's a little old, but should be the same basics
ifconfig -a -- what is the netmask for the interface in question?

it's for core 5 and they use http://fedoraxgl.tuxfamily.org/repository/fedora-xgl-repository-1.0-3.noarch.rpm.. but there isn't this repo now.

generalhan, ping noname.math.vt.edu

netmask is correct, 255.255.255.0
"Network is Unreachable

i am thinking that www.google.com drops pings
generalhan, how do you get you ip address host address

nah ... thats how i always test my connection
DHCP
it doesnt make much sense to me that i can do an nslookup to google but cant ping it ...

disable getting dns from dhcp and put your isps dns servers in system-config-network dns tab

generalhan, service network restart - to totally refresh your network config - you will start network as just after boot

well i went to resolve.conf and the correct DNS server is listed
hahaha

I'm not sure about modern xgl then -- could "yum install compiz" do the trick?

that was it !
simple restart and im golden !
now i can get to yum !! yay !

Are any of you using F7 on an Intel Mac. I'm surprised the F7 kernel doesn't have EFI enabled by default

daMaestro, ping

aMoRPHeouS, pong

night all

hey there

aMoRPHeouS, hello

quick question daMaestro
Compiz-Fusion?
going to be in the repos anytime soon?

OMG
who cares if this is off topic
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?threadid=520285&utm_medium=plugblock&utm_source=cgtalk

aMoRPHeouS, KageSenshi is working on it

ah, cool
daMaestro, will there be an Xgl version too?

I am trying to find info on why ircd is rpc ing me on two sockets
this doesnt sound right

compiz runs on both AIGLX/XGL .. theres no separate versions for that ..

aMoRPHeouS, I just had a Chicken Burger and Fries
just finished my coke
ahhh

thanks KageSenshi

I can't wait to install f7

just found the wiki hosting for it

f7 is nice

KageSenshi, does it work on FC6?

it supposed to .. but you'll need to compile the srpms urself .. my precompiled packages are for F7

no problem. figured out how to use rpmbuild last night
and SAM_theman... great to know. I just finished my tea

I had "ice tea" before this
yuk

eww

I feel a chemical reaction
Like the Vietnam war is going inside of me

That's the need to go to the loo

SAM- I care that its off topic

Gees that is taking forever!
I would have shipped you the DVD!

ikonia, you got some beef with me

http://wiki.kagesenshi.org/moin.fcgi/CategoryPackages/CompizFusion

no, I've just asked your to stop posting off topic and random comments

Sparky I told you my connection sucks

already there KageSenshi

aah .. ok

you asked who cares, I care

google ftw

what ?

Can't you upgrade your connection? We have 45Mbps available where I live.

Now I hate you
how fast it takes to download a DVD ?

20 minutes

:|
8mbps...

Southern_Gentlem, can you think of any reason why ircd would be requesting services from rpcbind on my machine?

Anyone having a problem with FC6 yum updates? The public key for cups-libs-1.2.12-1.fc6 isn't installed, and I don't know where to get it.

not out of the top of my head other than maybe looking for idents
not out of the top of my head other than maybe looking for identd

I think I have tripped over an exploit
it keeps tripping my wifi stick

quotemstr, I had that problem too. I just skipped the update

report it freenode.org

its requestiong rpcinro
uh rpcinfo

f_newton, what irc client

xchat
this server

something's wrong with your repo, yum is looking for http://devel.foss.org.my/%7Ekagesenshi/repo/pub/i386/compiz-core/compiz-* whereas the compiz-core subdirectory doesn't exist

and data is going out port 863

/stats p ... ask a staffer, f_newton

Im saving wireshark logs
well Im sure if im getting it a lot of others are too

863 is not registered and is a privileged port

huh?... compiz-core have been removed more than 3 weeks ago ..

well something is funny then eh?

f_newton, have you checked what process is owning the port?: netstat -plant|grep 863

yeah, I just installed the repo as per instructions http://wiki.kagesenshi.org/moin.fcgi/CategoryPackages/Repository a minute or two ago

fyi the compiz available in fedora repos is out of date
personally I use beryl instead

they are talking about compiz-fusion

tcp en 1953/rpc.statd

is there actually a stable release even for that?

stable ???

f_newton, do you use nfs?

heheh

doubt it

I just refreshed the repo metadatas .. yum clean all and try again ..

that program has had issues in the past, but it should be secure nowadays -- even so, if you're not using it, maybe turn it off?

turn off the service

nfs?

is rpc.statd the lock manager?

f_newton, chkconfig --list|grep on
vallor, it's for nfs... and no, it's not the lock manager

that could be cuz rpcbind at 111 controls lock manager

rpcbind i primarily used for nfs
hmmm is*

I keep getting so many syn/ack requests it overloads my wifi stick

a firewall should have stopped anything like that

yeah its used for clients accessing services from a unix server

but.. umm.. yeah, if you are not going to firewall or tcpwrap nfs.. turn it off

daMaestro, I thought that selinux enforce would handle that

/usr/sbin/rpcinfo -p # will show what is registered with rpcbind

no

*8shakes head**

if you're system is not acting as a nfs server or an nfs client.. turn off all rpc* and nfs* services
also, you really should be running a firewall

Im also using a separate spi firewall appliance

by default, fedora ships with iptables enabled

yes

!kernel

oh default all enabled?

oh. no bot.

only the kick/ban bot

hey guys, what kernel version does fedora core 7 use?

solaris does this look like a kiddie channel?

http://rafb.net/p/eJIMyn51.html

http://www.kernel.org/

Solaris444, on install or after update

on install.

nfs is stopped and has been
I guess it would be ok to close those sockets then

Solaris444, kernel-2.6.21-1.3194

kernel -2.6.21-1.3194

too slow old man
;-)

heh

i pulled it from my vm

daMaestro, you mean fedora doesnt have a default firewall running?

excellent. thanks guys. My 3ware RAID card is natively supported by kernels 2.6.19 and above.

.5.1-0.1.20070625git.fc7 .. that explains .. I renamed certain packages, remove all of them first before

My normal distro is suse, but the current version is 2.6.18

f_newton, it does

I haven't installed anything yet, I just installed the repo and that's the output from the command listed there... I do have the compiz that ships with F7 installed, but that's it

f_newton, /sbin/service iptables status

so I thought I might try fedora.

hmmmm

Solaris444, welcome to the dark side

those errors are really odd ... have you yum clean all?

man fedora is fun

what kind of configuration tools does fedora include?

yes

That's the main thing that kept me with suse.

Solaris444, define

But I've been getting annoyed at it recently.

ls /usr/bin/*system* will give you a partial list

Well, SuSE uses YaST for most configuration settings.

I thought suse was pretty crappy

ah sheesh -- I mean: ls /usr/bin/*config*

I'm not talking about package management.

Solaris444, fedora uses system-configs

that part is rubbish.

that part is the best

anyone know if compiz fusion offers anything substantial over beryl atm?

KageSenshi, are the SRPMs in your repo or will I have to get the tarball?

mikerose357, it's beta. so no

daMaestro, looks like Ive got some reading to do

mikerose357, it'll substantially crash alot
:p

4 updates ago ..

these are command line only or graphical?

daMaestro, whats the command for closing ports?

I can do command line, but somebody else may well be performing maintainence.

beryl is beta too and hardly immune to crashing lol

Solaris444, depends on which you are referring to

I havent even tried that since rh7.2

f_newton, system-config-securitylevel

http://devel.foss.org.my/~kagesenshi/repo/pub/i386/compiz/

is it less stable than beryl?

mikerose357, so go for it and tell us what you think

I thought that was a broad yes or no thing

from what I hear, yes. but i havent tried it

for cli run setup
most other things are gui

mikerose357, compiz and beryl are essentially the same authors, when novel wanted to take back compiz they hired the developers to get on the new project.
so now the new project is headed by novel

blah it wants python 2.5

on another look .. erm .. can you check @ kagesenshi.repo .. after $basearch .. there should be a final /

actually I HAVE python 2.5 installed but I installed via source seperate from the standard distro install of python

anyone have an opinion on webmin?
I've never used it.

I'll probably try it when I get around to upgrading to fedora 7

rpc 100024 is whats coming in on 863

that's the program number for rpc.statd
"status", it is called in the listing

how do i solve this issue in fedora? "configure: error: cannot guess build type; you must specify one"

well it should be on 111 shouldnt it?

rpcbind is on 111

yep thats right

it coordinates rendezvous' with the actual programs registered with the service
used to be called "portmap"

well still both ports should be closed

you could su - and: service rpcbind stop

check your firewall settings -- are those ports ACTUALLY open

if you are using nfs, that's a bad idea, but it doesn't sound like you want it running

the default /etc/sysconfig/iptables doesn't have them open, I don't think

whoa.... this could have something to do with my separate firewall appliance
this is default WebDragon|away and they are on

I'd have to go look at my F7 install to be sure
I don't recall them being enabled by default
but I may have tweaked the firewall at install time too

omg upgrading python from dev repo requires upgrading/installing 171 packages

NO ONE EXPECTS THE 4400

lol
I wonder if everything will actually work post upgrade

our chief weapon is fear, fear and surprise

/etc/init.d/rpcbind {start|stop|status|restart|reload|condrestart}

fear, good radios, and fanaticly devotion to our leader, whomever they may be

ahhh Southern_Gentlem you make a good republican

lol

f_newton, no i am SCI-FI convention security

all you need now is a great big W tatooed on yer bum

Off Topic
:-D

lol

Just kidding

I hear our leader prefers it on your forehead so your patriotism is clear

how do i solve this issue in fedora? "configure: error: cannot guess build type; you must specify one"

73 minutes

begainer, what the heck are you doing

Does anyone use the Mozilla Calendar 'Sunbird' on Fedora 7? Like it yes/no

or trying to do

my firewall may be redirecting to a certain socket I dont want to turn off

f_newton, Southern_Gentlem has to be republican... i remember him bitching about the last minimum wage increase

lol

*his

of course in some cases there may be little difference between both ends

installing openssl

lol

zcat everyone should fuss about that

Southern_Gentlem, heh. not.

Southern_Gentlem, why cuz it aint enough?

begainer, yum install openssl

but i have the source..

begainer, why are you compiling programs in fedora that have rpms

beecause non of they are comply for PPC

begainer, the rpm in fedora are tested to work with the rest of fedora where your compile may break things

I only have one port open and since I am connected I assume that port is a proxy

hello all

wish i could say the same...

anyone using a quadroFX or quadroNVS ?

is there a way to run a fedora or redhat installer from a knoppix cd?

mynameisdeleted, not that i know of

I'm trying to get the hardware guy here at work to order me a new machine but he doesn't want to spend the extra on a geforce7300 since we have quadros lying around

lol zcat did you know that 2 percent of the employed makes 85 percent of all wages?

f_newton, thought it was less that 2%

do you think ubuntu is much more user friendly than fedora to newbies if you don't consider setup/install?

I have a quadro at work, works great

and those who do claim a lot of hard work etc yet rarely spend 120 hrs a year at the job

vallor, which quadro ?

let me look

mikerose357, never used ubuntu, plus i think you question comes under the "poll and be banned" category

begainer, you're saying there's no openssl for ppc? i don't believe that.

what is the name of the instalation program on the redhat/fedora cd?

why?

mikerose357, because you need to reverse the polarity of /dev/null

0.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV28GL [Quadro4 980 XGL] (rev

lol

mynameisdeleted, anaconda

that's what I thought

whoa.. uninstalling uninstall everything..

I'm fixing up a messed up computer for someone else

vallor, cool thanks. Probabaly means the bundled quadro NVS will work... I hope

well install fedora like a man who knows what he's doing

btw, the NV28 chipset requires the "96xx" driver, it's a legacy device (which kind of ticks me off, but oh well)

a stripped down locked down os in earth tones just doesnt cut it

oh wait

vallor, does the newer livna driver provide stuff for newer quadros?

are you just going to do 2D?

nope
twinview beryl, hopefully

it certainly should handle newer quadros, I think anything after chipset NV30 is supported in the new drivers (not sure if I remember that correctly)

begainer, did you happen to try yum provides openssl

so if I install anaconda + rpm on a knoppix cd I should be able to boot-strap redhat

if the driver doesn't support the chipset, it will explain that in /var/log/Xorg.0.log after trying to run the X server

vallor, strange that the nvidia driver download page has separate drivers for quadros listed

and yum

though i will be using livna

oh? it came build it, but erm.. it's just that postfix does not has it's plugin..
so i figure..

hmm, my link didn't post -- if you want your cellphone to run gnome... http://openmoko.com/ (currently in developer release)

begainer, plugin?
begainer, are you talking about generating a pem certificate for postfix and figured recompiling openssl was the way to do it?

postfix ssl plugin, for something...]
i dont know... all i know is i cant find libssl.so.6

zcat and he is on ppc

someone in another channel was asking where to find "linux warez" rofl

cyrus-sasl
also

haahaha warez

Blinny, been awhile

someone could tell me where the ENV VARS are set on fedora ?

Pssssst Blinny I'll trade you a copy of fedora if you have the new suse but don't tell the BSA plzkthx

and why the basics like ifconfig, services arent on the ENV by default ?

which shell?

nooneelse, .bash_profile i would assume

plesa, can anyone help me? every time i try to play a video on fedora 7 it reboots my graphical mode!

nooneelse, you aren't logged in as root

pembo13_com, yes I am
on gnome-terminal

nooneelse, you didn't become root properly

I have opened and then 'su'

zcat, command not found

evening

KDE is more stable than Gnome ?

use "su -" to get the full rooty-tooty environment

nooneelse, use su -
CrocoJet, hard to tell, i only use KDE

hmm
thanks

command not found

"command not found?" A: Run the command AS ROOT after switching users with "su --login" or "su -" in order to get root's command PATH so the command WILL be found; don't run "su" by itself. If it's still not found, then either it's not installed in a standard path location (echo $PATH), is not executable (chmod a+x), is in your current dir (./runme), or you've spelled it incorrectly.

use livna ati driver or something else?

nooneelse, read zcats post

Southern_Gentlem, how comes it works for you and not me?

livna

muumi, fglrx is known not working with fedora 7

thanks everyone

pembo13_com, you posted zcat command not found

discrimination

daMaestro, really ?

FC6 in question

its a poor

i posted cnf

cause I have a ATI card

muumi, fglrx should work fine.. and yes, use livna
nooneelse, well.. you might have hardware supported by the radeon driver

it is kind of sad,got800*600 resolution at the moment..

muumi, grep -i driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf

daMaestro, I have a 9600 card

so I'm kind of forced to do something

muumi, system-config-display

and it is supported by ATI on the fglrx closed driver

radeon driver

nooneelse, the fglrx driver is b0rked for f7+
muumi, you can just select a generic monitor.. then you will be able to increase the resolution

ain't giving more than 800*600

muumi, glxinfo|grep direct

wtf 68

haven't loaded it yet

daMaestro, sorry I dunno this term

oh no teletubbies is on and I cant find the remote

what means b0rked ?

muumi, even now
nooneelse, not working

nooneelse, ask google

f_newton, do you have any bricks closeby?
nooneelse, http://giyf.us/b0rked

no!

libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b
Yes

oh my eyes~!

whatever that means...

daMaestro, hmm

muumi, it means you have direct rendering provided by the radeon driver

so theres no solution working for ATI cards ?

muumi, just use s-c-display to select a generic monitor in the resolution range you want to use

except the embedded drivers ?

there are no embedded drivers
but i understand what you mean

daMaestro:so it's not worth playing with the ati driver?

no.

no, the closed source ATi driver has not worked with fedora 7 since day one

daMaestro, oh

muumi, for you.. (being fc6) ... you might take the time to set it up

I couldn't update to f7

since now that i'm moving my home's OS to FC7 =/

daMaestro, i take it that ATI isn't too worried about that fact?

pembo13_com, i don't know what is going on

they released a new one recently. dunno if that works.

pembo13_com, dont seem so

AndyCap, and they revoked it

my DVD freezes after unpacking the kernel - says ready and that's it

it doesn't

Hahaha.

Southern_Gentlem, i've become very jaded by manufactures this past 2 weeks

muumi, at my desktop I use a partition only to home (what is the basic) so if you havent tons of apps installed u could just do a new fresh install

what else jades you?

Southern_Gentlem, they seem intent on dictating what i can do with hardware i pay for

pembo13_com, about time you saw the light son

AndyCap, Compaq and their BIOS level whitelist of wifi cards
Southern_Gentlem, agreed

meh, old news.

no the prob is that the installation doesn't even start...

Compaq is, and always has been, the devil.
mediacheck?

AndyCap, yah... found that out _after_ i bought the card, spoke to support, they recommended a card, i bought the one they recommended, and it still didn't accept it

muumi, oh

Hihi

works fine on my work laptop and the other machine (which wifey uses...)

AndyCap, such a whitelist is perfectly useless

and I can't install linux for her, she'll kill me

not if you're evil.

AndyCap, true

Get a new wife. She sounds like a ..
I'd better not type that here.

jep, very strange

and think locking down everything helps reduce support

hehe.she likes the games tho

Run through the kernel switches. ide=nodma noapic noacpi
that sorta crap

AndyCap, i've found article on how to hex hack it, but haven't had the time to take the risk

yeah, havent put it on the usbstick yet

Yeh. What he said.

muumi, you could use a ugly installation by installing the FC7 on other machine then boot with a live CD and copy all the files to the local disk

shakes head
muumi, so livecd wont work for you either

noprobe didn't help,in fact it did nothing at all...
something like that
maybe just have to wait for f8 and skip f7
anyone had trouble with their kbd?
I have Logitech cordless desktop express

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/AnacondaIsoLinux0ptions

and it givesme a headache
every other space is like 20 spaces...
any way to fix that?

muumi, stop hitting yourself on the head with it

I hit my neighbours when need for that
nobut seriously, anyone seen problem like that?
(even got new batteries)

pick it up about 4 inches and drop it

not sure i know the reason for a cordless keyboard
unless you have eagle eyes

szec, i love mine

muumi, i have a wireless logitech, any time i have probs with it is because the receiver literrally fell out of range
szec, comfort

i don't think i'd take my keyboard that far away from my computer

k

szec, who says i take it far

unless i hired a circus midget to watch the screen for me

szec, so you can set on the throne and type on the computer

"tell me what it says gregario"
gregario is the name of the midget i hired ..

my kbd wire always got in the way of my table...so after ruining two I switched over

what kind of wireless encryption do those keyboards do anyway?

zcat, plain infared
zcat, i doubt there is any encrypton
zcat, just very short range

infrared is encryption?

P...A....S......S....W....D

zcat, a cracker would be better of just tapping the PS2 port

i always thought it was a form of light

szec, it is
szec, well, electromagentic waves

so seems I'm the only one with stupid problems...maybe stupid user also

muumi, yup

yeah,you live you learn

sometimes you live and you get stupider

also true
tend to forget things

like the guy who pasted 50 lines from iftop in here last night

whats my name.... oh heck I knew it a few minutes ago...

hmm,boring watching that many lines

well .. he got lots of good advice from many people

ole

but he kept saying dumb stuff or not following it

many starting with getting a gun?

which eventually ended in a banning

ok - so IR keyboards == no encryption and is easy to intercept with a pda or something in the vicinity. bluetooth == possibly encrypted.

zcat, i wouldn't say that it's easy to intercept

i'll stich with wired keyboards like my lovely MS4000

zcat, no easier than usb

?

szec thought it read somewhere not to paste too many lines...

it think it's more than 2
no more than 2

but ok, you guys at least tried to help

wait .. ":: DO NOT PASTE MORE THAN 4 LINES INTO CHANNEL, use an online pastebin like http://rafb.net/paste/"
directly from onjoin message

well to tap a wireless infrared keyboard you should be in the same room and quite close anyway..
well, 2*2

zcat, if someone is close enough to leech your IR, they might as well just take it from you by force

infrared is only stable within 5m or so
and you have to be within the transmitters LOS +/- 15 degrees

frozty_sa, the keyboard i have barely goes 1m, for better or worse

then how are those people from the Dog Star communicating with me?

sirius b ?

oh...that's a whole other story
see....they've got this big-ass telescopy pointed towards your receiver....

I'm not a receiver!

lol

or a big telescope like Cartman had

Cordless keyboard wrote on neighbor's computer -- http://www.aftenposten.no/english/local/article427668.ece
rm -rf'd

you're a free man?

well, I'm negotiable

put it up in norwegian

a friend of mine has a UHF remote for his Dish Network, and he and his neighbor played channel wars for a while before they figured out what was going on

hehe
better then to get the streams from the net

hmmm....funnily enough: I've got one cabled hand microphone (not pc mic, normal sound equipment mic) which one day took a fall and then somehow gained the ability to receive FM radio
I'll make a video of it the next I've got a sound gig on and then post it...it's really quite weird

but funny too, seen it happen live or..heard it...

thnx zcat 4da link

it's really bizarre...I've wanted to open the mic at one stage to see why it gained this ability, but I was afraid that opening it might break it's new radio capabilities

shh!you might have to pay some licence fee!

hmm...good point

yepp,someone always wants money...

nice nick

been mine for the last 12years

i saw the weirdest damn thing yesterday... people in fairbanks..camping out in line for the new potter book. I had an urge to buy the new york times newspaper and stand there reading them the book review with the spoiler information in it.. to see if they'd stay in line or run away from me

|DrJef| they might have hurt you too
cross your mind?

Or at least called you 'muggle'

muumi, 6 people.. 4 of them pre-teen or teen girls... doubtful id get hurt
muumi, but i would have surely made the local news

well you could try to sue them
they hit me. give me money!

sueing is only usefull if the defendent is collectable.

all future earnings

I friend of mine has just been sued for 1 million dollars. She's an out of work waitress, I wonder wtf the point to that is.

well..it seems odd in a lot of countries...
doesn't happen here...

country?
usa?

greetings. i have burned fedora core 7 kde live i686 on a cd-r. when booting from the disc, i chose the option to verify media and install. verification failed and i was unable to install. a number of errors of the same type were displayed -- buffer i/0 error on device sr0, logical block 175747 was one of them. here's a photograph of the display:

i was wondering how the problem could be fixed. im guessing it was a bad burn. any assistance is appreciated. thanks.

US, Michigan
Sorry, sometimes I do stuff like actual work

42m 53sp

very likely a bad burn

90%

try it on a rw disc
what you downloading/watching?

if I type out the package names instead of using {,} as in that paste it works fine... must be something fishy with yum and repo info when those {a,b} get parsed

I got a problem here, could you please help me?
rpmts_HdrFromFdno: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 30c9ecf8
Public key for cups-libs-1.2.12-1.fc6.i386.rpm is not installed
after a yum update on fedora core 6

dont have one, unfortunately. i've got a few dvd-rs, but i don't want to waste one. should i just use one?
also, im hoping to have a dual boot system. using windows vista ultimate 32 bit currently.

yes, the package is wrongly signed. I'm skipping it until they fix it.

scampbell, ah thanks

hmm....well, you said you wrote to a cd? isn't the install iso dvd size?

nope, 686 MB
just fit onto a cd-r.
http://torrent.fedoraproject.org/
i downloaded Fedora-7-KDE-Live-i686.torrent

you can work around it by passing --exclude=cups-libs to yum when you use it for now
